Lanternists

Art of the Magic Lantern is a collaboration by two contemporary artists; performance artist Frog Morris and visual artist Nicole Mollett. We have been touring since 2014, and have created an archive of our own scripts and shows. We have performed at multiple public venues and events including Fuse Festival, the Whitechapel Gallery, The Barbican, Tunbridge Wells Museum and Gallery as well as many smaller venues. We run slide and collaging painting workshops which teach all ages how to create their own images to project.

Our performances include spectacular phantasmagorical imagery, we use slides both photographic and hand-painted originals, with a mixture of optical illusion and props. We have told stories involving monsters and beasts, and tales of eccentric characters. The narrative content is often humorous. We have been commissioned to write site-specific scripts to focus on particular places or forgotten histories.
